I never *got* what people saw in Quicksilver. I've been using Namely since Tiger on my iBook through Leopard and Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro.

I'm in tech' support, so on occasions when I need to look for or start an app' on a (monolingual) user's Mac I'll use Spotlight, but Namely is the coolest on my own.

I have always used Ctrl+Alt+{RightArrow} to launch Namely, because Spotlight's launch key clashes with the change keyboard language function, so it's definitely not as accessible for application launching as Namely, with my shortcut. I also exclude "\Users" and Classic Applications, but that last one is just a hang-over from when there were Classic applications on my iBook! ;)

There's only *one* thing I haven't been able to do, which prompted me to come here looking for an answer!

Sometimes I forget about an application that I already have installed, because it has a name that (stupidly?) doesn't include anything about what it is!! For example, I've been using Bible programs with the word "Bible" in their title, such as "Online Bible" or "Bible Reader Free", but I forgot I even HAD MacSword!

So, I wanted to create an alias for MacSword sitting in the same applications folder beside MacSword. I'd call it "MacSword Bible", but Namely doesn't index aliases for applications. After rebuilding the applications list it still wasn't there. I didn't want to rename the application, as that would break next time I updated it, and yes, a workaround would be to DUPLICATE the application, but I think I have some kind of phobia about duplicate files! :o ;) :b (Although evidently not a phobia about redundant or superfluous smileys!)Ian Greennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9250821.post-55853813804304839072010-06-20T21:07:21.360+02:002010-06-20T21:07:21.360+02:00As Anonymous said:
